ready set reference #6

in the layouts below you'll notice there's a chair in panel behind roundtree, and in putting this up i noticed it and added it--later in the page she sits down, so it's one of those things that 8 of 10 might not notice, but somebody would (like i did)

the robe i'm wearing here is a lovely superman robe, the symbol embroidered on the back like the man's cape, had this for almost ten years (!) and haven't seen another like it in that time

lili is angry, partially because she's been roused by tomfoolery and also because she is made of graphite (new page, just done it)

dig, if you will, the slightly grayer picture than normal

ready set reference #5

panel from the first story i did on Action Boy a few weeks back (though now, three issues ago)

seems i meant to move AB over in the prelim, also changed the gesture considerably in the finish, perhaps to the detriment of energy

AB is sloughing Lili's hand off his right shoulder cuz he's all angsty, she's all wtf

i had some much-needed ref for the books, because boy did these less than complex and entirely simple library stacks take awhile to rule! the cart i found fascinating as well, before looking it up i'd never have guessed on the design

changed the glasses position, from slung about her septuagenarian neck to something i thought was clearer by setting them on her face--also chucked that 60's design on, like bull horns

i'm an old librarian who finds ten bucks in place of a missing title, and i may or may not look like hugo farnsworth in the finishes (good news everyone!)

ready set reference #3

the action in this panel, from the fourth episode of AB, moves right to left--usually something one decides against, but in the previous panel the figure in foreground are moving left to right (the way people read in the west)--they turn about between panels to chase scooter and sean, so to create the sense that they've turned i change the direction of the action

thumb figures differ from final because of the perspective, so that skipper and sean aren't floating above or sunk beneath the foreground figures, lili and cap action

outdoors perspective is funny, haven't done a bunch of snow so there are decisions to make in terms of 'fixing' reality--hills and irregularities add to the natural feel, but i had to remind myself that there's a hard ground beneath, immutable

ready set reference #2

snow scene, found curious the process of reworking, going back in with white, in order to create depth--used toothbrush spattering black, then white, brush dots of white chunk flakes, controlled corrections with an awesome rollerball pentel product called presto pen

first shot is my winter wool, the second is a lady's winter coat--never realized that women's buttons fasten on the opposite than menswear

didn't shoot ref for the background figures, skipper protesting dorfmeister (whose first name is a mystery) sat atop their tossed snowman, head and torso on either side--people far in background activate in later pages

if i could do it over, i'd have kept the angular leg position on sean from the thumb
